Professional Focus and Services
Charlotte Kania uses an asset allocation approach in a nurturing and supportive environment to help investors understand the variety of investment options available, which would reflect the individual’s personal values and financial needs.

In her work with investors, Charlotte develops relationships that go beyond superficial discussions of mutual funds, stocks and bonds, etc. Her real mission is assisting investors to move toward a financial wellness, or financial healing if necessary. By helping them identify their desires for themselves and the world, together a financial plan is co-created to balance all their concerns.

Developing the Client Relationship
Charlotte offers a complementary initial consultation to discuss your financial needs and social goals, as well as the scope of the services she provides. During this first meeting, the available options, costs and fees involved will be discussed. As a fee-based advisor, she works with people of all income and asset levels and all walks of life addressing the following:

  • Retirement Planning: personal IRAs and retirement annuities; employment retirement program (401K, 403B, tax deferred annuities, deferred compensation, etc.).
  • College Planning: saving for your children’s college and navigating the financial aid system when paying for college education.
  • Insurance: life insurance, long-term care insurance and Medicare Medigap analyses.
  • Investments: A variety of investment choices that utilize mutual funds, stocks and bonds managed by private money managers who are dedicated to socially responsible investing
How We Work Together
Whether you need professional management of your account, a comprehensive financial plan, a retirement plan, a college plan, or simply a one-time financial consultation or second opinion, we will complete a Questionnaire to address these needs.
  • Hourly Consultation ($125/hr.). May include review of your current portfolio, an asset allocation analysis, creation of a comprehensive or specific financial plan, second opinion, social screening issues, life insurance review, or assistance in setting up an investment program for retirement, college savings, etc.
  • Professional Investment Management (Minimum $50,000). A variety of dedicated investment managers are available and are given discretion to manage client’s accounts. An Investment Policy Statement is developed for each account to be invested in accordance with recommendations and strategies to meet client’s specific goals. Fees ranging from 1% to 2.5% are based on an annual percentage of assets managed and are deducted directly from client’s account on a quarterly basis.

Charlotte is an Investment Advisory Representative of First Affirmative Financial Network, LLC (FAFN) a nationwide network of investment professionals specializing in socially and environmentally responsible investing and a Registered Investment Advisor with the SEC. All investment advisory services and fee-based programs are managed by FAFN with either Charles Schwab or Foliofn brokerage firms as custodian. In addition, for 16 years Charlotte has been a member of the Social Investment Forum, a national organization of professionals dedicated to promoting the concept and practice of socially responsible investing as an effective way to make financial and business decisions. Education and Experience
Following receipt of a bachelor’s degree from Adelphi University in New York in 1982, Charlotte began a career as a licensed Certified Financial Planner™. In this capacity, she has been offering financial services over the last 22 years in a variety of specialized concentrations with clients—from college planning, retirement planning to insurance and investment analyses. In addition to being a licensed CFP practictioner, she earned the Series 7 Securities Registered Representative and Series 24 General Securities Principal licenses, as well as licenses for Life Insurance, Annuities and Long Term Care Insurance and is certified as an Accredited Investment Fiduciary.Back to Top
