Professional and Educational Benefits

  • SRI in the Rockies. Conference registration for network members is pre-paid. However, registration does not include travel and lodging. The 21st Annual SRI in the Rockies Conference will be November 18–21, 2010 at the JW Marriott Hill Country Resort & Spa in San Antonio, Texas. Guest/meal registration rates of $550 are available for your staff. [“Early Bird” registration rate with SIF membership (best price): $930.]
  • Summit Camp. Formerly known as the “Pre-Conference Advance Meeting,” network members enjoy two full days with their peers focused on special presentations, networking, and training November 16–18, 2010. Plan to attend! [Participation outside of the network is by invitation only]
  • FP Transitions Membership and Discounts. The nation’s largest and best known succession, valuation, and acquisition consulting firm for the financial services industry, FP Transitions provides network advisors with practice valuation, internal succession planning guidance, disaster planning solutions, partnership and group practice support, sales and acquisition tools, and a private label transition portal, at discounted rates.
  • Social Investment Forum Membership. If you elect to add this optional benefit to your member services package, your membership will include a standard listing in the SIF Membership Directory (print and online), National Green Pages, and Financial Planning Handbook for Responsible Investors. The Social Investment Forum is the national non-profit membership association for SRI industry professionals. While this is an optional benefit, please note that First Affirmative strongly recommends that you choose to be an SIF member and support the national organization that represents the sustainable and responsible investment industry in the U.S. SIF membership in turn includes membership in Green America's Green Business Network.  The National Green Pages and Green Pages Online are produced by Green America [SIF Individual Professional Membership dues are $595 for 2010.]

  • TransformativeInvesting@NING.As a network member, you have access to our private professional networking forum: TransformativeInvesting.ning.com (“TI”). Drawing on the wisdom of the entire network, TI provides a platform for collaboration, information sharing, and relevant discussions among members. First Affirmative utilizes TI to disseminate important communications, providing easy access to updates from the Investment Committee, operations staff, and more.   • First Affirmative’s Advisor Services Website. Download First Affirmative documents, forms, and newsletters, access online research tools (see below), and more.

Online Research Tools

  • IW Social Advisor. Rate and analyze a client’s holdings based on their specific personal
    interests such as environment, board diversity, and defense. IW Financial delivers an
    online corporate practices and screening platform to streamline the research process
    and provides user-friendly information to help you and your clients explore investment
    opportunities. IW Social Advisor covers over 3,500 companies and allows for custom
    social criteria on a client-by-client basis, if desired. [$1,000 if purchased directly]
  • Proxy Governance Database. Network members enjoy access to the Proxy Governance
    database of information and analysis of corporate governance and social responsibility
    shareholder resolutions. Proxy Governance provides proxy voting services covering all
    securities held in First Affirmative fee-based accounts at Charles Schwab & Co. and Folio
    Institutional. [This service is not available to individuals outside of First Affirmative]
  • fi360 Web-Based Tools. These tools, including mutual fund research, portfolio
    optimization, sample Investment Policy Statements, and other fiduciary training
    materials are available to network members. [Investment professionals not affiliated
    with First Affirmative must be AIF designees to access fi360 tools: Online training:
    $1,450. Aannual accreditation fee: $325]

Publications

  • Inside Information. Receive an annual subscription to Bob Veres’ acclaimed industry newsletter [$349].
  • GreenMoney Journal. Network members enjoy an annual complimentary subscription [$50].

Marketing Support

  • Membership Identification. Identify yourself as a “Member, First Affirmative Financial Network” in your SIF Directory listing and in advertising, if approved by your compliance department.

Special Business Services

  • Federal Express Discounts. Network advisors may purchase pre-paid stamps from our office for deep discounts on overnight delivery services. (You may not extend this benefit to other advisors in your office). Pricing is generally 50% less than published rates.

Selling Member Benefits
$1,200 ($1,380 after 1/31/2010)

Selling Members can place asset management business with First Affirmative through a Selling
or Solicitor’s Agreement between First Affirmative and the advisor’s broker-dealer or RIA firm. Selling
Members receive all Subscriber Member Benefits listed above, PLUS the following:

Professional and Educational Benefits

  • 2010 Conference Incentive Reimbursement Plan. Based on assets under management with First Affirmative as of August 31, 2010, the Reimbursement Plan will provide producing advisors with a credit toward their hotel bill at the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa of between $150 and $1,000. Incentives are not paid to advisors who do not attend the Summit BaseCamp and the SRI in the Rockies Conference, or who do not incur lodging expenses at the Resort.

Publications

  • First Affirmative’s Quarterly Publications. Selling members may receive up to 50 paper copies of First Affirmative’s quarterly newsletter, Affirmative Thinking, and quarterly Market Commentary for marketing and other purposes. All First Affirmative managed account clients receive copies with their quarterly reports (either in PDF or in a hard copy mailing). Additional hard copies are available at cost (80-cents each).

Marketing Support

  • Website Listing.  Prospective clients can search for you geographically or by name through the First Affirmative website.  Your listing includes your e-mail address and phone number, allowing prospective investors to contact you immediately.
  • Profile (web and print).  Tell prospects about your background, practice, and approach to working with clients, and provide links to your own website. Your profile is posted on the First Affirmative website where prospective investors can search by region and learn about your skills and style. You also receive a high-resolution PDF for color hard copy prints that coordinate with other First Affirmative materials.
  • Investor Leads.  As we gather investor leads from national advertising and our website, we distribute them to members based on the volume of business placed with First Affirmative, demonstrated desire to do lead follow-up, and geographic proximity to the prospective client.
  • Marketing Display Banner. Use First Affirmative’s display banners for conferences, fairs, and exhibits. We will ship a set to you upon request; you pay return shipping costs. First come, first served.

IAR Member Benefits
$2,300 ($2,590 after 1/31/2010)

Investment Advisory Representatives (IARs) of First Affirmative Financial Network, LLC are identified on First Affirmative’s Form ADV filed with the SEC.  IAR Membership includes all supervision and oversight required of an SEC Registered Investment Advisor; all fee business done through First Affirmative is supervised by First Affirmative staff.  IAR Members have chosen to work under First Affirmative’s RIA rather than their own or that of another firm.

FAFN IARs must be qualified to use the Accredited Investment Fiduciary™ designation from the Center for Fiduciary Studies.

Investment Advisory Representatives of First Affirmative Financial Network receive all of the benefits listed above, PLUS the following:

Professional and Educational Benefits

  • AIF® Designation Renewal Fee.  First Affirmative covers this cost annually.
  • Membership Identification Upgrade.  For your SIF listing and other purposes, you will be listed as “Investment Advisor Representative, First Affirmative Financial Network.”

Marketing Support

  • IAR Logo.  IARs may use the appropriate First Affirmative logo in marketing materials and in local/regional advertising.
  • List in up to 4 States in the Find an Advisor area of the First Affirmative website. Selling Level Members are only listed in a single state.

Special Business Services

  • State Registrations and E&O Insurance.  First Affirmative takes responsibility for IAR state registrations and carries errors and omissions coverage sufficient to cover all First Affirmative supervised business.
  • Business Cards and Stationery Templates.  Display your Investment Advisory Representative identity with beautifully printed business cards (500 cards annually, if needed, complimentary).  First Affirmative also offers IARs a suite of stationery templates to coordinate with our business cards and other materials (e.g., letterhead, envelopes, bookmarks); setup and printing costs at the IAR’s expense.
